The Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies held a conference titled "Religion and Society in Afghanistan, Studying Talabani Theology" on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Madanit University , Istanbul. In this conference, AISS launched  its recent research “An Inquiry into Taliban Theology; Deobandism with a Pashtunwali Flavor" authored by Abdul Kabir Salehi. 

This conference was held around the themes of this research and brought together religious experts  from Turkey and Afghanistan to discuss religion and its impact on the Afghan society. 
Panelists discussed in detail various issues related to Taliban theology, its intersection with politics and its impact on the  Afghan society. 

Speakers included: Professor Ertugrul Okten, Dr. Abdul Jalil Alpekirai, Dr. Masoud Yavuz, Mrs. Nili Kohzad, and the author of this study - Abdul Kabir Salehi.

Note :
This research conducted by the Institute of Strategic Studies of Afghanistan is grounded based on Islamic literatures and sources to examine concepts such as radicalism, jihadism, implementation of Sharia and gender-based oppression based on the “Taliban's theology” framework.
