In partnership with the Imperial College and Imperial As One, the Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) organized a book launch ceremony to release the English translation of “Tali Girls” at the Imperial College Business School on Wednesday, 13 March 2024. The event began with a roundtable discussion about the book, featuring Dr. Camille Kandiko Howson, Associate Professor of Education in the Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship (CHERS) at Imperial College London, Ms. Veronica Doubleday, Musician and Researcher on Traditional Afghan Music and Mr. Aslam Jawadi, Journalist and Chief Editor at Afghanistan International TV. The second part was devoted to welcoming the ancient festival of Nowruz and Iran and Afghanistan’s New Year (21 March). The celebration included streaming a short documentary about Herat’s famous women, Nowruz poetry, and a Sama Dance performance by Ms Nilofar. The event was concluded by serving “Haft-Miva (Seven Fruits),” a traditional Afghan New Year dried fruit medley.
