AISS Organizes Online Discussion on UK's Policy in Afghanistan

In partnership with the Asia Center of Sussex University, AISS organized an online roundtable discussion on the UK's policy in Afghanistan, with  particular focus on the future. The panelists include experts,practitioners, former officials and scholars from the two countries. The following Issues were raised by the participants : Colonial knowledge; UK's role and contribution to mitigate Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis;speedy evacuation of at risk Afghans; the pros and cons of engagement with the Taliban; the criteria for recognition of the Taliban;Taliban's intention and capacity to address Afghans & global concerns on human rights, particularly women rights, counter-terrorist operations; role of Pakistan and other regional actors and the mechanism, criteria and roadmap for a meaningful inclusive and participatory political system.
